I've never played another "Souls" game, and I'm not typically a fan of "scary" games. But the mechanics and atmosphere are pretty good. The story, although hidden and convoluted is good in parts as well.
It is a very tough game. You will die a lot, however that's the kind of game it is.

Games developed by From Software are notoriously difficult. I remember really struggling with King's Field 2 on the original PlayStation because it was so unforgiving.
