Back in the old days, like 1980's to 1990's, people did arcade games like Defender, Tempest, etc... And home video games too, like them Atari games, a classic one was Pitfall.

But are people today still into or are getting into retro video games?

I'm looking at a magazine named "Retro Gamer" at Barnes & Noble now and it makes me wonder this!

Meh, PS2 games are as far back as I'm willing to go. Before that, the graphics and gameplay are too wonky. Dude111 loves his 2D games, and that works for him, but I'd rather take advantage of modern technology and all the fun that comes with innovation.

Yeah, I like modern tech games too, but there's android / Ipad games where they have to be oldschool 2d, too. Unless that octacore Samsung Tablet can play Call of Duty in 3d, too. But that would also probably eat up over 1gb of memory, which you wouldn't want to do.

Genesis/SNES era games seem to be more popular as ports on newer console than the early Atari/Intellivision games. I think it's because heavy game buying age is in their 20's and 30's and they all grew up on the Genesis and SNES, so there's a lot of nostalgia. Plus some of those games are still pretty beautiful and addictive.

80's arcade games and Atari are great, but very simplistic. I grew up on Atari, but most people my age have no connection to it. My favorite gaming era is early 3D games like PS1, N64, and Saturn. However, I know a lot of people who won't even touch those games any more because they're so primitive (graphics, camera, tank controls). To me, there's nothing better than turning on the Saturn with a copy of the original Tomb Raider. Love it. Of course, I've also been dying to get a copy of Tempest 2000 on my Saturn as well because I enjoy the early arcade games too.

Retro Gamer is a fantastic magazine. However, it covers many generations of gaming. I would love to have a subscription!

Most people who are in to retro nowadays are collectors but there are still some enthusiasts playing those classic video games of yesteryear via emulation.

I love retro games and still enjoy games from every era. NES provided me with some very memorable moments in gaming.

Just google MAME. People have been building actual arcade cabinets, hooking up an older computer and playing retro games just as if they were back in the arcade dumping quarters. Yes retro gaming is around and a lot of people are joining the fun. Also, more and more arcade/bars are popping up all over. Great place to enjoy an adult beverage while playing some old 80s-90s arcade games.

Yes but its not like playing these games ON THE REAL ORIGINAL 80s GAME!!!

They dont sound the same for one.. (They have a digital sound to them running thru emulators)

I would much rather play on the actual consoles!!!!!
