My 6 year old son plays Minecraft for the iPad and I recently bought him the PC version. He really doesn't understand how to play, since it's more complicated and I wanted to help.

I haven't gamed on the PC for about 20 years (I have a PS3 and have played all of the consoles). Is there a site or maybe a YouTube channel that I can watch and then teach my son? I'd love for him to get more proficient with PCs. Thanks.

Is he even interested in the game, or was it your idea?

I would suggest not starting him on video games as the first use of a computer. How about typing simple things into a word processor instead? I would be concerned of the high potential for addiction especially in such an early phase of brain development to start them on those games. The kids should be learning to interact with people. Also for a kid this young too much indoor time could actually result in vision problems later on:

Myopia increasing: Indoor light may be impairing children’s vision.

I credit my successful career in software development to interest sparked by such early video games. At this point in time I think things have pretty well flipped and you are the weirdo in school if you haven't played Minecraft. It's something kids bond over and can play together. It's really like a big virtual lego set.

There's a wealth of how to articles and videos if you just google. Somewhere to start.
