I suppose in a year that sees the release of both a Zelda and a Super Mario game (both highly rated), it's going to be hard for other games to top those.
I haven't played a lot, but from all the games I've played this year, I would say Assassin's Creed Origins is my favorite of the year. Horizon Dawn was also a great game. The Uncharted and Dishonored stand alone games were also good.

I've only played a few games that was released in 2017 as well. I'm still boycotting Nintendo for lack of third party support. I will admit that the Mario game looks awesome and it is a shame that Nintendo refuses to go after third party AAA titles. My favorite game I played this year is Shadow of War.

Own a PS4 and a Switch and you're all set. Get all of the great Nintendo exclusives and then also the AAA third party games PS4 is known for.
Persona 5 has a very devoted following, people seem to love this game. But I agree with Suburban Guy, looking at the reviews, and just general popularity and voting history with these types of awards, I highly doubt a non-Nintendo game wins this year.
