This does not really answer your question on how to rid your computer of a virus, but I have found out the hard way that it is best to NEVER open up or go to a site that ends in .ru
If you bought it from Best Buy, take it there and have the Geek Squad guys do it for you. From personal experience, I can tell you they can clean up even the most virus-infested PC. Then install Webroot for future protection or have them do it for you. It works like a charm.
Good quality commercial anti-virus software should be able to run an in-depth scan of your file system and remove most viruses it finds. There are some free virus removal tools available, but I can't vouch for their efficacy.
