Interesting timing, and maybe a big mistake by both Apple and Google, especially on the back of xClouds rejection by Apple because "they'd need to review every title xCloud offers to meet Apples quality standatds" titles which are ESRB rated, and available on other platforms.

Fortnite is a massive success, and as a bonus it might move the reins of ownership of devices to the people who own them.

This "Epic rise" is mostly due to kids having to stay at home because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Parents need to keep them occupied somehow so what better way than to sit them in from of the screen playing video games. Its not because the game is so great, its because of Covid-19.

That and the social aspect of it. When all your friends are playing, you'll hop on to play, too. Source: my son hates Fortnite. Plays just to 'hang out' with his Fortnite addicted budddy.

COVID-19 has been a blessing for these video game companies, especially for Epic Games, creator of Fortnite. I'm pretty sure Rockstar Games, and EA have made millions from these past few months since this pandemic started.
