before the xpac goes live it takes longer for the general matience.
I no longer play, I played from 2 hours after release up untill last year when I decided I should quit for my health lol.
I was on Icecrown, and I had one of the few Raiding Enhancement Shaman pre BC. Zildan was his name, and man did he do some damage. I was the third shaman on that realm to get ahold of the Legendary Sulfuras, Hand of ragnaros, took me 14 months to get the materials, and 4 months after that to get the eye from Ragnaros.
I miss playing sometimes, but it is for the better that I am not there. Got my shaman up to 70 and quit. Raiding was not the same as it was back when it required 40 players to do.

Definitely - 6 hour schedule downtime.
That wasn't the issue. Someone goofed, and mail was messed up - all servers got taken back down. They were "looking into the issue" and would "update within 2 hours".
That was 5-6 hours ago. Current downtime is.... 13 and change hours
haha, that is one thing I do not miss lol. The estimated time of server repairs. there was one time they said they would be restarted in 15 min. Well the restart happened nearly 24 hours later.

LOL
Well with any luck, this time, it'll be back up within the 14 hours they are calling for - supposedly only a few minutes to go.
The terrible part is, there were no updates for several hours... considering this is a national holiday, and a chunk of people do get off, you would think there might be a little bit of extra thought that this Tuesday might not be the right day....
We play mostly with our son who lives out of town. Often, all we do is swap "hello, what's up?" Or maybe mention The Rain or what one of the grand children did. Neither he nor I would take time to write a letter, or even an e-mail, but just saying hello or good night is a way to keep in touch.
His step-daughter is in development at Blizzard, even gets her name in the credits, and she got him interested in WoW. So when lightning got our computers, he fixed them, upgraded one and sneaked in a trial download of WOW. So we were hooked. The Husband enjoys the dungeons, etc, but I prefer the solo work. We don't really want to know, but we suspect we may be very much in an exclusive group......Old, Old people who have made Level 70!
