Hello! My husband and I are both teachers in Colorado and are beginning the process of looking for a place to move and work out of state. Colorado is looking at having a ton of lay-offs for teachers in the next few years and it does not look good economically here.

I was wondering if anybody can give me some info about the state of teaching jobs in Virginia?

Are they looking for teachers (or do you think they will be) for the 2011-12 school year?

How is typical pay related to cost of living? I know teachers don't usually get paid well...I am a teacher, but I want to be able to live in a nice community and afford to raise a family.

Is there more pay based on education (I have a master's degree)?

And...do you know if districts will count any previous years of experience?

I am welcome to any suggestions for districts, places to live, etc. I have never been to Virginia and am checking out a lot of different states through online research to try to figure out where to focus my attention when jobs are posted.

Thanks!
