Hello,

I recently graduated from college and got married. My family is here in Florida and my husband's family is in New Jersey. Since neither of us is crazy about our home states, we decided to relocate to Virginia. However, he's left the relocation up to me and the internet has me so confused.

Okay, saw this on another thread so will answer these questions to the best of my ability.

1) Where you are working - I'm going to teach high school and my husband works in construction, but is planning on going to trade school.
2) How much you are willing to spend on housing - right now I pay $850 for my 2 bedroom apartment...buying a house isn't an option at the moment so $850 - $900 is my range.
3) How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate - depends on the drive...right now my job is 15 minutes away from my house but because of traffic it's a 45 minute drive either way.
4) If you have kids: Private school or public school? Public School
5) What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight? I would like to know my neighbors, but I don't want to be stuck in a small city where everything is an hour away.
6) Community amenities important to you - safety...that's about it.
7) -Pie or cake? Pie!

Overall, I just want to find a city where I can be relatively safe and raise my children. Any suggestions would help! Thanks!

Stay out of Richmond. My wife and I relocated here three years ago to go to school. She has not felt safe since we got here and can't wait to get out of here. As for me I felt safe in Iraq so I don't count. Charlottesville is really nice. Richmond is just not affordable and the schools are not good.
