HI Im going to be relocating to the danville area from ky related to family being transferred with goodyear. ive never been to that area and am wanting some input on areas to look for housing/schools/employment. Im a nurse and have a 10 yr old son. im not looking to buy a house yet, would like to rent for awhile until i know for sure we will be staying. I don't mind a 30-45 mile commute to work. any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.

HI. I currently live in Danville and I have to warn you that the rental market here is horrible. I would never buy a house here but I currently rent a house which was difficult to find. There are apartments here but they rarely have onsite management. In larger cities you simply drive around until you see an apartment and enter the rental office but that's not the case in Danville.

If you and your husband don't mind a 45 mile commute, I would seriously consider living in Greensboro, NC which is about 45 miles away. The apartments there are way better and it has superior shoppping to Danville. If you insist on living in Danville check out Astor Arms apartments Wilkins & Co. it's at the bottom of the page.

I can't really recommend a school. Danville Regional Medical Center is the hospital here if you're looking for employment. You can send me a private message if you want if you have more questions. Good luck.
