My boyfriend will be starting at Mary Washington in the fall and we will be moving to the area. We are mid-twenties to thirties, not really into the "college scene" and have never lived in the area before. Any suggestions on places to live (max $1000 budget). I will still be commuting to the Charlottesville area 2 times a week for work. We have no idea where to start looking.

You might want to look into renting a small home in Lake of the Woods. It would be close to a mid point for the two of you. I have seen some small homes for rent there for under $1000. From there, he would drive down rt. 3 all the way to school, and you could take rt. 20 and a couple other roads south, to get to work. Getting to Charlottesville this way is a lot easier than taking the highway.

Also, it would be hard to find a rental in Fredericksburg for under $1k honestly. (Most apartments under $1k in Fredericksburg are not in very good areas.

Actually, my sisterinlaw rented a very small townhome only a block from campus... (on colony I think) it was like $950/month. It was really small, but it had a cool historic feel to it, and was in a nice neighborhood. They seem like they would be in high demand though, since they are so close to the campus.

I am moving to Fredericksburg, VA soon and have still not found a home to lease. I will be working at Mary Washington hospital. I need at least 4 bedrooms and would like to be in a family oriented neighborhood. I have pets so a fenced back yard would be nice as well. I would like to stay under $2000 a month, the further under the better. Any suggestions? I have looked at Craigslist, Hotpads, realtor sites and not finding the perfect home.
