DRvortec......Those are all pictures of places along Main St. Pretty typical of the whole town. The first picture shows the oldest (late 1700's) building in town which is now a restraurant, The Tavern. A little on the pricey side but the best prime rib I've ever eaten.

One block to the north is Valley St. and it is lined with old homes most of which have been restored.

It IS the cutest town! I am one of Abingdon's biggest fans and I don't even live there! I'm up there several times each year and always want to come back, put my house on the market, and move up there! Unfortunately, I need to wait until I retire here in SC (realistically thinking), which will be 6-10 more years...

How deep are your pockets? I know of one on Valley St. that is absolutely beautiful for around $600K. Then there is one on the same street that has never been restored for $180K. I know of another one (built in 1928 & rebuilt in the '90's) in an older residential neighborhoods that has a zillion dollar view for just over $400K.

Holy cow! Hmmm, I guess I'll just be "admiring from afar." [*sigh*]

Don't let me scare you off with those numbers. You can find real nice houses in about any price range you need. You are just not going to be in the historical section of Abingdon without paying big bucks.

Oh, no, you didn't -- I was just joking back with you.
I'll happily take my "small bucks" and find just what I want, I bet. Then I can just go visit "big bucks" and stare, LOL! Truly, that'll suit me just fine!

Do you know of any good realtors in the area that we can e-mail with and get on their MLS???

My wife and I are considering buying a few acres on the outskirts of town in the Abingdon/Damascus area.

What are some nice areas within ten miles or so of Abingdon to buy 2 or 3 acres and live inexpensively??? We do want some neighbors..

Thanks.

flybob63-----sent you a DM with a link to a realtor. I believe that person can better answer your questions.

Good luck.
