With the announcement of Champion expanding in downtown Lynchburg with a new brewery on Main Street, we are up to 3 breweries that will be opening by Summer of this year downtown (right now there are zero downtown so this is pretty significant):

Starr Hill:

Three Roads:

Of the three, Three Roads is slated to open first with a tentative opening sometime in April. In addition to the three new breweries opening this year, a new self-serve taproom offering 20 pour your own beers and wine on tap will be opening downtown as well:

On top of all that, a second rooftop bar and wine bar is underway on Commerce street downtown next to El Jefe (https://wset.com/news/local/building...town-lynchburg) is slated to open in May, a new wine bar has plans to open this Summer on Jefferson Street (https://wset.com/news/local/lynchbur...en-this-summer), and a new German-style beer hall and beer garden is underway next to Crisp Salad Bar at 12th and Church Streets! Beer lovers may want to scope out downtown Lynchburg this Summer with so many new options coming!

I wonder myself, did any of these planned breweries eventually open in Lynchburg, despite COVID doing a brief slowdown to the construction plans of a lot of places? Same with the pour your own beer bar, myself.

Actually sadly Champion closed a couple weeks ago. Though I think this was less an issue with the local market and more an issue with the company itself (they had recently merged with Reason Beer and closed their other taproom at the Shops at Stonefield in Charlottesville shortly before closing the Lynchburg location as well). Starr Hill and Three Roads still going strong though! I went to a fun Vespa event and live band just last weekend at Three Roads and it was absolutely packed!

Thanks for the update on these places. Sad to hear Champion closed, but at least Starr Hill and Three Roads still are open.
