At least Danville voted to go forward with a company that has a proven record in the gaming industries, Richmond picked a company with %0 experience in this or any venue operations, luckily the people voted it down.

Caesars has picked Whiting-Turner (based in Baltimore) to be the contractor.

Well, technically Charlotte does have a casino within an hour drive down I-85 in Kings Mountain. It is a smallish casino which is slots only, in a trailer. Yes it is a joke, I’ve visited a few times personally and really missed the casinos I went to in MD, but technically if you want to play some sort of games. I’ll probably make the trip up to Danville to check this one out.

Opening date for the casino has been pushed back to 2024. Supply chain issues and construction labor shortages were cited as reasons.

I hope this also doesn't happen in Bristol. While the Bristol project seems to be moving along better, anything could happen to slow progress.

Is there any real proof this will actually benefit the residents of Danville? I mean truly benefit them? Not with paltry wages and so on but with livable wages, health insurance and so on. When I was younger I did visit the casino's in Las Vegas and Atlantic City while I was there working and I left each of them thinking what a waste. Old women sitting at the slots looking as though they are spending down their social security checks quarter by quarter. I found the places so depressing.

I would certainly hope so, considering the casino is Danville's Hail Mary. This could end up either being the shot in the arm it desperately needs, or a total flop with Danville remaining in the crapper.

Personally, I'm skeptical about the whole thing, but I'm willing to give it a chance rather than immediately write it off.

I hope so but I have my doubts. Some of the casinos out west in AZ and other places seem to harbor folks who seem to be on their last dime and out of luck. I never gambled but we visited several and I always felt Grandma was spending her last dollar there in hopes of striking it rich but never did.
