No one actually cares about this stuff. The attention span of the white-guilt-liberals is short and they will live off their parents until the next “thing” comes along. Also, most guys only show up to these things to try and hook up with chicks. It’s all beyond stupid and the last people who are ever actually helped are the ones that everyone is supposedly fighting for.

Because the media hasn't stoked the fire lately.

Its stopped because VA is changing. Even St. Paul's, "the Cathedral of the Confederacy" has removed the Confederate iconography. Four years of destruction wrong by Davis, Lee &c. should not be honored. We could have chosen another path and failed to.

Its also a reaction to people like Amanda Chase and Cory Stewart. Not born in VA, they are white nationalists who are or have sought statewide office. The more they beat their chests in front of Confederate flags, the more middle of the road Virginia's are ready to get rid of the stuff. I'm like yard sales; after Charlottesville, yard sales were full of flags, portraits of Lee and so on. Thrift stores stopped accepting it the stuff; we know what it represents.

Even the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and there is perhaps not a more traditionally conservative organization in the south, recognizes that the use of the statues and symbols have been taken over by extremists.

Perhaps, even the SJW's woke up and realized that removing confederate statues was NOT going to get them out of Mom's basement.

You can't accurately predict how a jury will or will not react to the evidence. If I recall correctly one of the "victims" had a handgun which obviously could go in Kyle's favor. Of course a jury will also be wondering why Kyle was out there with his weapon.

That's what happens when you live in a utopian fantasy land. No, I don't feel bad.

I think for the most part, people are taking a breather and just celebrating Biden's victory and many of Trump's losses. I do believe there will be more statue toppling and not just in VA.

The statue toppling, like the "defund the police" movement was somewhat of a fad that has run its course.

These issues were largely symbolic and were NEVER the real problems, but were used by TPTB to detract focus from the real problems (which are mostly unsolvable in our current climate).

The Left is increasingly alarmed over Biden not being able to provide all the many freebies they were promised. I see this trend continuing. If so, the Left will be focused on the freebies not materializing and the symbolic issues, like statue toppling, will probably get less and less attention as time goes on.

This summer has had an effect in VA. Legislation limiting police use of chokeholds and prohibiting police from serving search warrants without first announcing themselves is now law. Legislation has been passed that improves the decertification process and reporting of bad police officers so they can't go from agency to agency (for example, a disciplined officer can't go from a local government to ABC enforcement); it gives more authority to localities to establish their own police review boards, it prohibits police departments from getting some military equipment, and it makes it illegal for an officer to have sex with someone in their custody.

But perhaps most important is the establish of mental health crisis teams so mental health experts respond to mental health crisis instead of the police. There have been several high profile cases in VA of a mentally ill person being killed by police. They are not trained to evaluate and respond to these types of situations.
