This is actually about two weeks old but I didn't realize they had been released until now when I saw on GGW. We now have the new Census-Designated Places from 2020-2030!

As Virginia doesn't have many cities, CDPs are the boundaries we normally use to "divide" our counties into city-equivalents. In places like New England, CDPs don't matter. But here in Virginia they are the best thing we have to municipal boundaries.

You can find the new map here:
https://tigerweb.geo.census.gov/tigerweb2020/

The new Loudoun CDPs range from Waterford, settled 270+ years ago, to Kincora, settled... about two years ago, apparently.

Are you taxed for services in those CDPs? Or is it still only a county level property tax.

Personal property taxes and real estate taxes are local taxes (administered by cities, counties, and towns).

Sales tax is different. On Oct. 1, 2020, a new .7% regional retail sales and use tax came into effect in central Virginia to include city of Richmond, as well as Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover (including the town of Ashland), Henrico, New Kent, and Powhatan. This brought the total sales tax to 6% (4.3% sales tax, the new .7% regional state tax, and the 1% local option tax). These monies are allocated to the Central Virginia Transportation Authority, and puts central Va. in line with Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads with regards to the sales tax rate. (Food purchased for home use and some qualifying essential personal hygiene products which will remain at the current 2.5% rate statewide.)

Virginia is divided into "Planning Districts." The tax above is for planning district 15.

Planning districts are not taxing authorities; that is up to to the localities or the Commonwealth.
