At least there is a solution, according to the local PO: Let it reject your chip card three times, then swiping it will work. Indeed, that does work at the grocery store, but geez. Why are they so lax about the most important part of the transaction? Does anyone have insight on this?

Wrong forum. But I never see the issue you are rambling about.

Not a Central Va issue. It's a "your" card issue apparently. Understand?

No it's not. And it is multiple cards, with different people. Takes three seconds at 711 in Bangkok. As, stated, A few of the cashiers are the first to admit their systems stink. Likely has something to do with poor internet. An 811 credit score and a BBA? I know what I am talking about.

The problem is Central Virginia specific. Been using the same cards this week at my Summer home in Wyoming... very fast, first attempt.
