My husband works in Southern Richmond and we need to relocate near where he works asap! We currently live in Fredericksburg, VA and his 90 minute commute one way is not working for our family.

I'm not too familiar with Mechanicsville or Colonial Heights, but Chesterfield, Henrico, and Glen Allen are very safe. Mostly suburbs with chain stores around. Plus, they are pretty close to downtown/ Shockoe Bottom area if you want to hit the nightlife scene.

My Uncle lives in Chesterfield...very nice area! Just off Courthouse Road...lots of stuff on Hull St. and Midlothian....lovely!
