I am wanting to move to Virgina from Utah...I am orginally form Southern California and miss the diversity but not the cost of living. I am finishing my teaching certification here in Utah and want to move by next year. It is just me and my dog ...where is the best place to live in VA and teach special education?

Is diversity high on your list then? Would you want a more urban district? For diversity and job opportunities, I'd say look at northern VA. The cost of living is high, though. Are you looking for as far as social activities?

I second NoVa for diversity. But for a cheaper and more laid back area you should investigate Richmond. It can be diverse if you go to the right areas. It's not nearly as diverse as the DC area, but it's not as big either. The Hampton Roads area also would be worth checking out. It's a little bigger than Richmond and has a large military presence and some diversity as well. Good luck!
