Silver Spring makes up a very large area, there is the more "urban" down town area inside the beltway that appeals to the younger crowd. Then you have the largest portion which is north of the beltway going up to and past Wheaton, Colesville, Layhill, bordering Rockville and going over to Burtonsville. There are families and farms and churches and horses..lol. While I do feel like the politicians aren't the greatest I do enjoy learning about the area as a whole. Virginia and Maryland are both nice places to live.

in reston - i would just avoid the southlakes HS pyramid district. Parts of SS are great. Other areas there are just tons of single hisp males with backpacks walking around - pissing in alleys - leaving trash and beer cans everywhere or groups of loud blk teens dressed like thugs. Just annoyances for the stroller crowd and may be related to higher crimes and lower home prices.
