That, and we've just grown weary of the lack of retail development and overall what appears to be a weak infastrucutre and poor leadership.

The website: www.schooldigger.com is really great to take a look at test scores for specific schools and then you can search for homes in those areas. And the website www.greatschools.org is where you can find the more anecdotal information on the schools (i.e. commentary from parents & students). Charles County is really beautiful, as are parts of Howard County. You will find affordable homes in Charles County, for sure. If your commute to D.C. is not an issue, you could take a look at those areas becuase their schools are top notch. Anne Arundel also has a strong school system. We are targeting Montgomery County because we just like the area and we like what we see in the schools and how the county is managed. That said, every community is different, which is why its important to drill down and look at an individual school's test scores, parent involvement, etc. And also have that line of sight from K-12. Dont just focus on the elementary school that looks amazing.

Did you move to Charles County? Their schools are in decline too now for the same reason PG county schools are in the gutter.

The school collect about $30,000 per special need child from the state of MD, but do the absolute minimum they can. I'm so over PG schools and plan to go back to Montgomery or Howard before he starts Kindergarten next year.
Sorry you need to go on DCURBANMOM and look at the Moco school threads, MD in general is average when it comes to kids with special needs. Has nothing to do with Prince Georges County

Anne Arundel and Charles County. La Plata High School and North Point High School are good.

I'm actively looking into Howard County and started the process of working with Realtor to sell my house. I love the convenience of living close to Metro here in PG, but at the end of the day I have to do whats best for my kids.
