Hi, Mom21, my husband and I were looking at Waldorf and I found your post. Are you saying that we should stick to zip code 20603 in Waldorf. We are looking to rent a SFH. Are there any communities/zip codes we should avoid when looking for a SFH in Waldorf?
Thanks
Yes, there certainly are! Stay away from Bannister, Carrington, most anything in zip code 20602. Sheffield is nice, but surrounded by dicier areas, so I you would be taking a chance. Good areas 20603, and some of 20601 is also nice. One area that I really like is Eutaw Forest, older homes on large lots and low crime rate when you check the states. to get there go down Berry Road toward Indian Head, left on Bensville, right On Eutaw. There are other areas that intersect Berry Road that are nice too. If you tell me what you are looking at I can probably give you an idea.

I would also like to add that I know there are pockets of SFH that are nice that may be in the areas I've mentioned. I will grant you that. But I spent about 6 months (literally) on Saturday and & Sunday evenings casing out neighborhoods, reading articles in newspapers, etc. I also went to every gang and teen seminar I could to get a feel for what was happening in the schools.

There are some in White Plains that also seem nice, I believe they are called High View or High Point, something like that. They are 4 stories. Here are specific subdivisions that I would stay away from:

subdivision names: Homestead, Tanglewood, Carrington, Dorchester, Coventry Manor, Acton Villas, Stanford

Street names: Heathcote, Robinson. Also anything off of St. Charles Parkway, Smallwood in zip code 20602 should be avoided.

The better zip codes for rentals in Waldorf is 20603, the areas on either side of Berry Road. If you can afford a house rental as opposed to a townhouse rental, check out this area.

If I have specific complex names are street names I can help more.

I hope you're still there. I may be working for the school district in La Plata, and would be looking for a rental nearby. Is the information still about the same?

The town of LaPlata is rapidly growing. It now has 3 supermarkets, a Walmart and Target department stores, a Lowe's hardware, a community stage theater, and the hospital recently doubled in size. Numerous new cafe's recently opened. LaPlata residents no longer need go to Waldorf for their major shopping needs. Downtown LaPlata also has various new townhome, condominium, and single-family home developments. Click on this link http://www.somd.com
