We're relocating for my job downtown (near the Capitol) and I'm investigating Maryland suburbs. Several coworkers have mentioned Kensington as worth checking out. I don't know much about this area. Is it similar to Bethesda? What is/are the high schools for this area? What would the commute be like (by car or by public transit to Union Station)?

Thanks for any information.

The best part is that Brunswick Line commuter train stops in Kensington, and it's a short ride to Capitol Hill. Metro is not there, but you can take short Ride-on Bus rides to the Wheaton Metro stop or the Rockville stations.

I believe that, depending on where you are in Kensington, the high schools would either be Walter Johnson, Bethesda-Chevy Chase, or Einstein (and that, if you're zoned for Einstein, you can pick among the five schools in the so-called "Downcounty Consortium").
