I will be moving to Silver Spring from Toronto, Canada, and would LOVE to know what cell phone and internet service providers you would recommend.

Much appreciated!

I second the vote for Verizon on Internet service, as they have fiber-optic cables in most places. Verizon also has decent cell-phone service, but you may have a different result depending on your usage needs.

To be honest, during the earthquake a few weeks back, the only service that was still working was Cricket!

I canceled my verizon, and got on with Cricket the next day-

Plus, there are no contracts either, only drawback is you have to purchase a new phone with each upgrade, nothing at all is free with them!

Verizon is known as the best and most reliable service, but it is also VERY expensive and they cap your data usage on your cell phone. I have Sprint and it works fine for me, it's a lot cheaper and the data is unlimited...Verizon is still the best quality though
