We will be moving into the area April 1 and I need to be able to get to the hospital fairly quickly, we would like too live in a popular area as we have no children. We do thou have 2 small dogs. We don't want to go more than 1700 per month. Getting as close to a metro station would be wonderful. Any suggestions? Looking in silver spring, rockville, bethesda, chevy chase.. thanks!

Obviously you want most bang for buck?? One bedroom apartments along the Red Line frequently rent for $1400 plus utilities - the two rules I live by are closer to DC or the METRO the more expensive. Takoma Park or SIlver Springs sounds like a good option for you but they are not METRO routes to NMC but there are plenty of bus routes and the METRO is available in SS to other destinations in the area. The problem, as I see it is, the dogs. SOme listings will allow pets but limit to number and/or size. Call the Housing Office at NMC to begin your search; then start scanning Craigslist - remembering that private owners are more likely to allow small dogs than apartment complexes and check a web site (MIlitary By Owners??). I would be glad to answer any questions but would recommend you scan this forum and familiarize yourself with the area as a preliminary approach. (I am guessing you will have a military sponsor??)

Silver Spring might have some apts available allowing pets. That may be your best bet but I'm not too sure about the rents.
