I had a very close friendship. We went on vacations, dinners and shows. When my mother became ill she took care of her when I went on vacations or took a class (I paid her). I got along with her children and my son loved her. Well, her ex-husband passed. Her adult children and grandchild felt I should take her to the funeral. They planned the funeral without planning a ride for their mom since the pastor told her an ex should not ride in the family limo.
I met her at the funeral since I could not take off work due to a meeting but my supervisor allowed me to attend the funeral. Now the children have an attitude with me because they felt I should have been there for their mother. And don't make themselves available for me to visit her since she had leg problems and can't get to the door. She's 81 years old and it hurts me to not be able to see her. I don't want to lose a friendship. Any advice?

Ignore the children and go see your friend.
