Your statement is completely false. I am a Republican who knows many other Republicans and I can't say that any of them come to mind who are racist. I'd say that racism is as much or more prevalent among Democrats than Republicans overall.
I'd journey to say more Democrats are racist than republican's. I cannot get over the fact that blacks constantly vote these liberal bigots in every year. I meaan for godsakes wasn't Strom Thurmond a Deomcrate (Dixiecrate)? Robert Bryd the leader of the KKK in West Virginia is the longest serving Democratic Senator. Serioulsy it's hilarious most blacks vote Democratic, but when you confront them and ask the tough questions of what have the democrates really done for their communties the only response you'll get from them is they have done more than the republicans have done. This response is extremely stupid, because the republicans have never had the chance to do anything for them. The irony is that during republican admins like during the 80's etc blacks have raised their level of income (middle class one's etc) and have been a lot better off. Hehe, but unless the younger blacks start to vote republican or just utilize the two party system you'll still see pockets of extreme poverty in the black community.

Democrats like Byrd and Thurmond are nearly extinct. They represented a Southern party base, socially conserative, but in favor of government action to end poverty, stimulate the economy etc. These democrats were the ones that controlled Southern politics from before the Civil War until modern times. It wasn't until recently that the Republican party started to capture these conservative voters. Zell Miller of GA is the perfect example. Conservative Democrat turned Republican.

The Democratic party today consists of white liberals, most (but not all) minority groups, and the few remaining Southern conservative and fewer yet Union Democrats. It really is a losing combination, which is why the Republicans have dominated national politics in the last 10 years or so. Maybe that is starting to change, but the Dems still have some serious work to do if they want to regain control.

Where have you been in politics? Did you not pay attention to the "first 100 days"? Apparently the work has been done and the country has made it's point. We'll see what happens in the next election but at that point in time, some people were clearly tired of the situation, including Republicans.

Boy, the party out of power picked up some Congressional seats in a mid-term election, stop the presses. Sarcasm aside, the Democrats did make some progress in narrowly winning back Congress, but does it really indicate a significant trend in national politics? Time will tell, but I have my doubts either Obama or Hillary can break through and win the big one.

People are too obsessed with party to pay attention to the real problems these days. I don't care which party is in power, I would just like somebody with common sense who can look at a problem without having some one-size-fits-all philosophy. It infuriates me to see parties bicker like they always do. If this happened at my work, everyone would be fired and they would hire folks who preferred solving the problems at hand instead of obsessing over proving a point.

Maybe its time to seriously look at third party candidates. They have been supressed by the two party system for some time. I don't believe that they could be any more whacko then the one's they are offering us with the traditional parties.

In one sense I'd have no issue with that, but in the other sense, we must realize that the winner-take-all system we have always gravitates us back to a two-party system. Look at when the Republicans replaced the Whigs as an example.

If the plurality wins and 4 parties are contenders, you'd have elections like this, and not primaries, but general:

Democrat 27.5%
Libertarian 26.0%
Republican 23.1%
Green 23.1%

The only way the Green, Libertarian, or whatever party would become a real force is to actually REPLACE the Democrat or Republican party. Otherwise you'd have elections where only a quarter of voters support the winner, and that would gravitate back to a 2-party system anyway.

unfortunately, PG and Mont are still DUMocratic...even socialistic. One sided anything is always bad and while most Marylanders consistently SAY they want efficiency, accountability, low taxes and more for their tax dollars, most simply do not vote and NO ONE in Annapolis (General Assembly) really cares anyway. Like in DC when the sheep herds unexplicably kept electing Marion 'Crackhead' Barry (DUH?!?), PG and Montgomery counties bought the lies and handed this current governor power hence these two counties will receive most all $$ benefits from the largest State tax grab in US history. I am hopeful the pendulum here will finally swing back, and swing hard!

Yep! I grew up in old MC and it's always been lefty land. Now, they have been successful in destroying the county and the crime rate is going up. Soon, decent people will have to live in gated communities like I witnessed in CA. It's really sad!
