more record setting heat on tap for tomorrow - not going to be fun. It's going to take many days to get electricity back to everyone.

Glad i'm not one. Hyattsville always seems to get spared. Power flickered out about a dozen times but came back in seconds. I feel for the rest. 104 degrees, Friday, just as hot tomorrow.

Power for me flickered as well and we're totally fine. But I can't say the same for many as its a mess throughout Bethesda and the southern part of the county.

Our power was out for 3 hours. I'm so glad that it's not multi-day like it will be for some. I've been through that too many times already.

Same here. I lucked out last year when the hurricane came thru, and again this time. Power went out momentarily at least 6 times but always came back on. There are lots of gas stations closed and folks clearing out the inventory at the grocery stores.

Power outage numbers as of 11 a.m.

Pepco: 450,000 Dominion: 431,000 in No. Virginia BGE: 420,000 in D.C. area including Baltimore Potomac Edison: 44,000 in Maryland SMECO: 34,000 NOVAC: 23,000 Rappahannock: 20,000 in D.C. area

Well, the current front-page photo on the Washington Post site is from Huntingtown: http://img2.wpdigital.net/rf/image_6...m_606_630e.jpg .

It show a tree which had knocked down a power pole with a transformer on it. So, you can assume the power is out in at least part of Huntingtown.

Pwer was restored in my part of Montgomery Village at 12:05 PM on Saturday. We are lucky in that power lines here are buried and a quick look around showed no major property damage or downed trees. The storm had an end of times feel to it. The lightening was so continous the sky was no longer dark and uou really didn't here separate thunder but a low rumble. The so called freight train sound heard during tornados. I think we were lucky that we didn't get the worst of the winds like down county, parts of Potomac and Germantown.

We lost power for less than a minute in my part of College Park. Apparently the southern part of CP near campus went dark, dunno if power's back there.

We're super lucky since the power lines are all above ground and there are quite a few trees.

I drove around quite a bit this morning and only found 1 gas station open, and the line was huge. Hardly any restaurants or grocery stores were open, either.
On the bright(er) side it's not as insanely hot today as it was yesterday.
