Hi all

I am relocating soon and one of my options so far is in the Maryland/DC area.

I have an interview coming up in Rockville, MD with a non profit. My boyfriend works in Software (Java mainly) and we are wondering if there is a software industry in the MD/DC area? I really have no idea!

FYI, My boyfriend is from South Africa and currently works there so we really don't know what cities support this industry besides the West Coast. I don't want to move anywhere where there really is a lack in opportunities for him.

There would plenty of opportunities for a Java Developer. However, much of it involves companies with contracts with the Federal government. So there are smaller numbers of small, startup businesses than in California. If your boyfriend is not a US citizen, he would have to obtain a visa to work legally. I am not sure how that works, except that I believe he would have to find a firm to sponsor him.

We will be married so he will attain his green card through that, then be able to work.
