We just moved to Silver Spring, and I'm taking my kids into DC tomorrow (Friday) and wanted advice on parking at one of the metro garages. We live closest to the Glenmont metro, but I'm wondering if there would be spaces available after 9:00 once rush hour is dying down?

We could also drive to the Silver Spring metro, as it only takes about 10 minutes longer to drive there than to Glenmont. I parked at a garage in downtown Silver Spring (Wayne Street garage) a few weeks ago and found several spaces still left at 10:30am. Would this be our best option instead of Glenmont? Are there other parking options near the Silver Spring metro?

My one experience with the Glenmont station was that they filled up by 8AM. My first suggestion is to go to the Wheaton metro stop, and use the pay-by-the-hour garage at Amherst Avenue, just below the VFW Hall. Alternatively, the main Wheaton garage on the west side of Georgia may not fill up so quickly, especially during a holiday week.

I suspect that you cold also find parking in Silver Spring if you prefer.
