......in the Germantown/Gaithersburg/Rockville are. Are there any rules townhouse association against this?

Anyone has experience with this and how the neighbors feel about it when your parrot scream for few minutes a day?

I can't speak for everyone else but I for one would just love living next to someone with a screaming parrot!

Well, at least you're off the budgies-on-the-balcony thing.

I doubt there are any homeowners' rules about parrots in townhouses. If you rent, some landlords don't want pets, period, but even if they do allow pets, they usually don't discriminate with bird species the way they do with dog breeds. If anything, most landlords I rented from just don't allow "walking" pets, meaning dogs, cats, ferrets, etc., because of flea infestation, feces and urination, and destruction. They don't say anything about birds, fish, or reptiles.

I've had conures in apartments for years. No one has ever complained but one time, when some idiot kid ran down the hall and set one of them to yelling. The kid's mother then had the audacity to knock on my door. She's lucky I didn't sic him on her. So I can't imagine anyone complaining about an Amazon in a townhome, as long as the bird doesn't spend all day yelling. Will you be home with the bird?

No scores, I just remember your screen name and that I thought it was a bad idea because of the weather and hawks.

I have a Nanday, and at one point I also had a Green Cheek, but he passed away a few years ago.

If you're not home during the day, how do you know the bird will only yell for "a few minutes?" Do you have the bird already? Or are you just thinking of getting one?

Nandays are one of the least attractive conures. Ha ha ha..

I don't have the townhouse or the bird yet. Most Amazons only cream once in the morning and once at sun down.

Says you. He happens to be quite a beauty.

And you are wrong about Amazons. Amazons, along with Cockatoos, are some of the most frequently relinquished birds because they are not only noisy, but if they are not socialized properly, they can be very aggressive. If you do not have any birds, I urge you NOT to start with an Amazon. You'll be in over your head, big time, and that is not fair to the bird.
