If you didnt know, developers are planning 5-6 major projects along Rockville Pike. One or two have already started not including the new Whole Foods. Rockville Pike is a parking lot.....I still can't figure out how anyone will be able to drive north or south.

270 ftw.

Otherwise I avoid the road whenever possible unless its the dead of night. Or take PT unless I'm grocery shopping.

It's not, of course. Every major intersection from Bethesda to Germantown on 355 are already failed intersections; so why not just jam thousands of extra cars on the road!

MD smart growth FTW. Build first and worry about the traffic later. I'm especially looking forward to when they redevelop the Fairgrounds into a 1000 unit housing complex, adding thousands of cars trying to use the Montgomery Village entrance ramp to 270. On bad days it already takes 15 minutes to get on the highway from the light at Montgomery Village Ave/355 and actually merging on. What's a few thousand more cars at that point?

Apparently that is our problem since most of the people moving in are now going to be working in town and using light rail or rapid bus something. The other million or so people that live in the area and don't work there will just have to suck it up. This was apparently all by design.

Should be fun times.....I never hit the Pike on the weekends, ya can't move! NIH is a gauntlet, massive construction at that campus. They broke ground at Pike Plaza for a tower, and lets not forget Westfields Mall has permits pending for redevelopment at that mall. I call them, the quiet one, slowly they seek approvals.

You know smart growth is part of Agenda 21, correct?

Rockville Pike is a parking lot everyday of the week during the day time...no matter what time you take it. I work in Bethesda and personally I take Old Georgetown Rd when I can...I don't think there is any other way to get around it.
