The walk will take place on the National Mall on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Event day check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the Washington Monument grounds at the Sylvan Theater. The walk starts at 10 a.m. – rain or shine.

Adults and children of all ages are invited to take part. Participants may start a team, join a team, or simply register as individual walkers. The event will include a number of special activities for kids. Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs!

Breathe Deep DC was conceived by Jerry Sorkin, a young Bethesda father of two, who as a non-smoker was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2007. Sorkin chairs the event, which in three years, has raised some $800,000 for lung cancer research. News4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer, with family members affected by lung cancer, will emcee the event for the second year.
