Hi --
i understand not tipping a professional like hvac or plumber. I'm having workmen (2) install hardwood floor in one area and refinish the hardwood in the remaining area. it's a 5 day job for $8k. workmen are employees, not contractors or owner. certainly even 10% is too much, but i want to give them something. i'm thinking $150 for the 2 of them for the 5 days, if they do a good job. comments? thx.

So the "workmen" are working for a contractor?? Is that the deal.
Being in the trades myself and as a sub and a workmen (currently), hell a case of beer would be appreciated. Anything extra is greatly appreciated, especially if these workman are working for a contractor. I think your offer of 150 is generous, and kind.

You are already paying $8k. Why do you feel compelled to pay more?

+1 on the beer or at the very least buying them lunch on the last day or something.
