The point is, the more specialized, higher paid employees currently reside in Virginia. An office assistant or Secretary job is a dime a dozen. A forensic investigator is not. Try and follow along or read previous posts.

The actual point is that a decision hasn't been made so where it will go is still to be determined. Both sites have there pros and cons so saying it is a given that it will go to VA just because the majority of the higher paid employees live in that state is not a sound argument. There are going to be many factors that going into the decision of the site.

For those of you wondering how the new FBI campus would fit into the parking area at the Greenbelt location, here's an idea.

Quote:
a series of five office buildings for the FBI alongside 1.6 million square feet of private offices, apartments, retail and a hotel.

It is amazing that they have enough room for a 2.1 million sqft. campus and 1.6 million sqft of mixed-use off campus and still meet the setback requirements.

Good move by the Greenbelt Developers. Two years is a longgggggg time to wait to see who wins. I wish the GSA was selecting developers in a few months.

A criticism being whispered about the Greenbelt proposal is that Beall and the development company he leads, Renard Development Company LLC, don’t have the bank account or the organizational chops to pull off the 3.7-million-square-foot project they’ve prepared.

...

Beal says he has addressed that disparity by way of a joint venture agreement he signed with a titan of development from New York, Related Cos. (Related confirmed the agreement). Founded by Chairman Stephen M. Ross in 1972, Related has a staff of more than 2,000 and has developed more than $22 billion in real estate.

Now that looks 100x better than both the current DC location and the Suitland Federal Center/Census Bureau campus setup

Yeah. Looking at this proposal shows that the Suitland developers really missed out on a great opportunity to create a more useful work location. I'm not sure what other functions are at the Census Bureau, but I think they didn't need as much security as the FBI does. There project could have been more open to connect with the neighborhood.

It will be interesting how things change over time. I'm sure the FBI will have some changes made. Hopefully they don't change too much. I think the idea presented is a good start.

Very good move. Two years is long but it will be here before you know it. That also dispels the question of where would people eat, live and shop if they are working there. Its about 8 years from opening so the demographic of the workforce can change but an employee could literally be minutes from work.
