Just Curious....I see a lot of Redskin fans in Maryland, but I also see Cowgirl fans in Montgomery County and Prince George's County.......I'm curious is it the same way in Northern Virginia

Sad to say...I think there are more fans in Virginia than Maryland. Between HR and Richmond the love for that (football) team in Washington is sickening!!!!

VA has always been very strong Redskins territory. In Maryland, you had the Colts in the past, now the Ravens, to compete with, plus the Steelers have a very strong fan base as far east as Frederick.

The highest concentration of Redskin fans are in the state of Virginia. P.G., Montgomery, Calvert, and Charles are Redskin strongholds. To a lesser extent Frederick, southern Anne Arundel, and St. Mary's seem to go the way of the skins. The rest of the state, not so much.

A lot of the old Maryland football fans stopped watching the NFL, or at least stopped having a team, when the Colts left. Ravens fans are certainly concentrated around Baltimore, but since they have been better than the 'Skins in recent years, they are attracting fans in the "contested areas" that have some ties to both big cities.

The Steelers are #1 out my way, but they were the primary team on WHAG out of Hagerstown for decades, so folks as far east as Frederick got Steelers games every week. I believe Hagerstown cable still carries a PA CBS so they can show Steelers' game, but I may be mistaken (Cumberland cable carries two extra networks to make sure all the Ravens, Steelers and Skins games are shown.) Maryland is a great Pro-football state. Not too many states can boast of having two popular NFL teams that close together.

We forgot the mention the Eagles which have a strong fan base in Cecil County and thereabouts.

Deadskins territory stretches much farther south because Virginia doesn't have its own NFL teams. In Maryland, only Montgomery and PG Counties are completely Deadskins territory. In Howard COunty there are a lot of Ravens fans and the Eastern Shore is split. In Western Maryland, you start getting Steelers fans once you get past Hagerstown mixed with Ravens. Oh yes Cecil County also has some Eagles fans as well.
