I am not stating opinions. The things stated about MD and VA are facts. My opinion happens to correspondent with the facts. What place is better is a matter of opinion, BUT most people would consider the advantages you are touting about VA as negatives. I agree that MD residents are kinda exploiting VA, and without VA these problems would surface in MD. However, most of VAs negatives are its on fault for letting itself be exploited.

I am not interested in having an irrelevant argument over how Virginia lets big business not pay taxes. VA is hardly the only state to do this, it is common in much of the south, nor is it the only state. It is irrelevant to this thread.

This thread is to discuss the ways MD is better. VA does a few things better than MD, and many more negatives, but these positives of VA are irrelevant to the discussion. Im not interested in a MD vs VA thread there are plenty of these. I want an MD thread.

Pretty sure the title of this thread has both MD and VA in a comparison indicated by the word "than".

Yes, it is a thread on why MD is better to live in. If I made a thread about how Colorado had a higher elevation than MD it would not be a vs thread either.

A vs thread would be, "what is better..."

That's still a comparison. You're comparing Colorado to MD. The difference is that, Colorado having a higher elevation is a fact, while, as this thread clearly shows, the conclusion in your thread title is highly debatable.

Comparisons yes, but VS no.

Being higher in elevation doesnt make Colorado better. Likewise having a higher quality of life and being a better place to live doesnt make MD better than VA. It is a matter of opinion if the better life in MD makes it superior to VA.

And yes, in Maryland, rural residents of the Eastern Shore and Western Maryland are expected to see a tax hike everytime Montgomery County needs more mass transit. Why should residents of Lynchburg and Danville pay for mass transit projects in Arlington? And at least illegal aliens will never get in-state tuition in Virginia, and the death penalty will always be on the books there.
When you stop gorging yourselves on our tax money, maybe then you could complain. Isn't Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore making demands on the DC area like Donald Trump's wife saying he isn't getting her enough jewelry and vacations?

No, we want our transportation tax money we already pay BACK! It has been raided to balance the general fund for years. That is our tax money, we pay it, it is supposed to come back to us for necessary repairs. MOM is taking it instead. This year is supposed to be different.

We are also not so keen on the unfunded mandates. You know, you and your 70,000 residents live in the bay watershed so here are mandates A-Z that you need to do to make sure a small piece of dog crap doesn't end up floating down the Potomac. Most communities will howl over unfundated mandates, the poorer ones lack the ability to pay without jeopardizing essential community services, like police, fire, schools.

We aren't the ones screwing up the bay. Our population has been declining. Our county is 75% forest. We have very little agriculture, thus little runoff. The bay is being destroyed by the massive influx of people downstate, and the farm runoff from downstate Maryland and PA. Address the real issues, and the bay will be better. If only the Continental divide was 20 miles further east............
