Where to live between Waldorf, MD and Washington DC for a 20 something single male? (Fort Washington: rent)

I have a job offer to work in Waldorf, MD and it pays 6 figures. I am a single male in my late 20's and still very into dating scene. I like going to music festivals, museums, and restaurants during the days, and like to party occasionally in nightclub and lounges at night. Coming from NYC, I am very into East European cultures.

I would like to live in Washington DC, but commute is too far to work. So, I am looking for a place between Waldorf, MD and Washington DC. Where would you guys recommend? Thank you

There really isnt much social clubs and nightlife in Waldorf, or surrounding areas. Waldorf and Southern PG County are very rural. The closest you may find in regards to what you are looking for is Ft Washington near the National Harbor.

I wouldn't pass up on DC just yet. You will be going against traffic and should be able to make it to Waldorf in 30-40 minutes.

As EdwardA said, you would be going in the opposite direction of traffic during rush hour. As such, it is reasonable to say that your commute from DC to Waldorf would only be about 40 minutes. Since you make six figures, you can easily buy a really nice house in Waldorf or rent a decent one bedroom loft in the heart of DC such as Dupont Circle. If you want, you could also split it down the middle and buy a nice house in Fort Washington as suggested earlier (a Tantallon-named community would be more to the standard for your income level), which is about equidistant to DC as it is to Waldorf. And as previously mentioned, Fort Washington is near National Harbor, which is an upscale entertainment district with a growing night life.

You should definitely consider either Washington DC or Alexandria. As the two other posters have mentioned your commute will be smooth because you will go opposite. You will not find anything that resembles the kind of lifestyle that you described between DC/Alexandria and Waldorf.

Also I do think molukai brings up a good alternative, you could live in between both and just be close to DC and Waldorf. You would still have a reverse commute, but even better you wouldn't be far from DC or Waldorf. Good luck with your decision.

Oh I agree, Alexandria would be nice. If you wanted to be in MD, the national harbor increasingly has that potential.
