You have to have it transfered through a Maryland FFL. If they will mail it to a Maryland FFL, you can do the paperwork and get possession from them. Otherwise, no - you cannot transfer regulated long guns and handguns out of state.

Is the M1 Garand a semi-automatic rifle per MD AWB?
I believe the Garand is specifically exempted, but check the wording of the law and don't take my word for it.

My experience in PA was that of Molukai's. Saw an AR variant (something I don't have) and asked if I could buy it. Storeowner (worked with him 35 years ago) said "Nope, can't sell it to you because of you being from MD.". I've bought, oh, quite a few guns form this guy over the years so if there was a way to do it he would have.

As a note, hold on. The next move, either next year or in Gov. Brown's or Gansler's first year, will be to go after traditional looking semi-autos traditionally for hunting guns like the various ones made by Browning/Remington/Beretta/Benelli.

Yeah, clearly that's just someone being dumb. He can't sell it to you directly but he can mail it to an MD FFL. Dumb, or lazy.

Don't forget semi auto hanguns, licensing of all firearms, mandatory insurance for gun owners (and confiscation if you don't get it, because now you're licensed) and a 50% increase in ammo taxes.

I'm so not upset that my job is transferring me to NC.

Not if it's on the MD banned list. That's what banned means. I checked with my local FFL guy, too.

ARs aren't banned until 10/1. This guy is just being lazy.
