That's important given that WFM is currently the subject of takeover chatter.

Is Kroger going to buy Whole Foods? - Oct. 7, 2016

I hear that Ahold might(not sure) be interested.

Two employees of the WFM on P St. in DC have filed suit alleging that the scheme that got nine store managers fired was much broader, and approved by corporate management in an attempt to cook the books......

Quote:
The lawsuit claims the practice was going on not just at the nine area stores but nationwide, and was not just a scheme by the nine managers but “a decision made at the executive level … to pad company profits.” The suit says that a program that allowed employees to float from one department to another in order to help where needed was used to shift the labor costs.
Whole Foods sued over bonus manipulation | WTOP

That seems a bit thin to me for the basis of a suit, but I don't know much about labor law, or the specifics of the contracts. I do see the potential for it to balloon.

For those who shop at Whole Foods or have thought about shopping there, today there was a nice reduction in prices on certain items as reported by media outlets about the Amazon purchase. As a regular shopper there, I went in this morning and there were already Amazon posters in the store as well as "Whole Foods + Amazon" price cards on a number of items. One example was in the fish and meat departments. Steaks that normally were $16.99lb were now $13.99lb. Some prices dropped $4/lb. Some fruit items like strawberries that were $4.99 per package went down to three for $10. Some "luxury items" didn't have the price reductions. But nevertheless, the staples, what people buy the most, had a nice overall reduction in price.

This should draw more shoppers as the word continues to get out.

I was wondering how this works bc you don't have a card that says you're an Amazon Prime holder.

Those additional discounts will come later. For now, these are just discounts for everyone. It will probably be like Prime Members get an additional 10% off or something.

Can't imagine Prime Day at WHole Foods. lol They will probably mail out some prime card or something to Prime members.

No different then any other grocer, you discount certain items to get people in and you get full price on other items. To think you're getting a deal is ludicrous.

Well, first, Prime membership is not like other grocery stores. Currently, you have to pay $99 per year for Prime membership. Other grocery clubs are free. Second, when I went yesterday, the staple foods were discounted. So, unless you're getting eggs and then artisan cheese and caviar, then yes, you won't get much of a deal. But for those getting eggs, meat, bread, and milk, there is some price relief.

That was my point, same thing others grocers do.Add in there are only a certain amount of suppliers in the radius to serve our area,Whole Foods has a Warehouse on Landover in the "old Safeway plant but they get their product from the same suppliers that Giant and Harris Teeter use and Giant Food is still the only company to hire their own on the receiving dock inspectors .
