Not sure why people focus so much on the mason-dixon line as a boundary between 'north' and 'south'. It's simply a survey line between PA and MD by Mason and Dixon. Further made famous as a dividing line between free and slave states (though not an accurate line).

IMO the 'northern' mentality has creeped its way pretty far down into VA over the last hundred or so years (not including your 'hillbilly' enclaves in the mountains).

Pretty arbitrary north/south reference in this day and age.

I find it interesting that no one has addressed the OP's statement about big houses, big cars, and black people. lol Which is why I was at first confused. It seems everyone is this thread just dropped the second half and crated their own thread. lol That's why my initial response included other areas that had big homes and cars in the outer suburbs. But I would be interested in why black people were mentioned along with big homes, cars, and feeling country.

Big cars and homes is an irrelevant discriminatory statement. That's why I think most ignored it. You see a lot bigger homes and a lot bigger cars in the 'rich' white suburbs....which leads me to believe that the more money you have the bigger your toys regardless of race.

I ignored it because it was stupid. There are big homes and cars in the white suburbs of Virginia as well.

Maybe its because of the large black population and black people in PG county like the whole big house, big car type thing like they do down south. Compared Baltimore, and even MoCo its just really different.
Baltimore native and fan here. Baltimore seems more "country" to me, but then I spend too much time near Lexington Market and thereabouts.

To answer your question directly -- no.

Dictionary definition of "Country": "rural districts, including farmland, parkland, or other sparsely populated areas."

Glassmanor is very high-density, and definitely not country.

Look at the definition of country in Urban Dictionary, April 26: sober wasted, particularly nos. 13, 14 and 17. I thought that was what the OP meant.

Whenever someone cites urban dictionary, I die a little inside.
