I imagine if I titled the thread, "Signs That Things Are Not Improving For PG." and picked some random story about a negative event, this thread wouldn't have ended up where it did. lol

People, the thread wasn't created to imply that all things are golden in the entire county. I hope you all can comprehend that. We're reasonable people. Well, most of us are. I know that there will always be those neighborhoods or services that won't see such a positive change. But like I said before, every little bit helps make PG a better county. I honestly thought high housing demand was a good thing. So, I posted a story about a high demand for housing in a neighborhood. Out of that, I was called a hypocrite. lol Amazing.

Now, I created this thread to consolidate those things (events, trends, projects) that are helping to improve the county and its image. I'm perfectly happy to create individual threads about everything that I think is a sign of positive change.

You know what keep cheering on PG it's needed. Lord knows the county is beat up enough. It's just by nature I'm a healthy skeptic.

Default New Restaurant Coming to NH

I was at NH last night and saw that a new restaurant is going to make its way to there. Its called Redstone American Grill. Based out of MN, it's similar to Houston's and leans more towards upscale. Reviews on open table give it an average score of 4.3 while Yelp is about 3.5 so you could assume the food is good enough to satisfy a foodie. My guess is that it will either be by the awakening or, more likely, by on the Northpointe lot
by McD. Its good to see the food offerings at the Harbor continue to expand and will probably follow that trend as the outlet and the casino resort come online.

Apparently, lot of us are. Piggie county covers a lot of territory and changes landscape quite a few times. I doubt those down in Ackokeek feel the same about things moving on up on a whole because a handful of people camped out up there.
Just pointing out the obvious.

Of course an entire county won't see change due to a new focus on smart growth in or near the Beltway and adjacent to the 15 metro stations. But there are projects either planned or under construction in both south, central, and northern parts of the county that will help improve the access to new amenities and thus eliminating the perception that PG continues to be a bedroom community full of strip malls and 50s era garden style apartments. I gave everyone the benefit of the doubt by not having to clarify that I wasn't talking about every block within the county. But I see that was a mistake.

Sir, I take offense at the term Piggie County! I personally think piggies are adorable, but them's fightin' words!

More "signs."

Three steps for Prince George's County to lure Metro-site development - Washington Business Journal

Quote:
As it vies for a relocated FBI headquarters at Greenbelt and numerous other projects on its thousands of developable acres, Prince George’s, with the assistance of the Maryland Legislature, has cut development costs and proposed slashing the red tape associated with transit-oriented development.

Toss in County Executive Rushern Baker’s $50 million economic development incentive fund, which specifically promotes projects at Metro sites, and the county is, finally, making itself a place to do business.

Developers are noticing.

You've never heard that before?? How long have you lived here? I bet you use the term sometime in the future. Maybe not here but you will.

Oh, it's only been a few months... I'm sure that I will develop a healthy amount of contempt for my community soon enough!
