Hi -

I have been looking at buying a house possibly over in the Germantown area. I have been looking at using the intercounty connector for my commute, but I am unsure of the fees. To get from 270 to 95 is the fee posted one way? It looks like it will cost me about $10/day to use the ICC - that seems a little steep.

It's pretty high - $4 each way with an EZPass transponder; $6 without. This is at peak times (which is most times). Will you be commuting with a normal schedule? Where will you be working?

If you went all the way to the Beltway and back up I-95 how much would you waste in gas and time? Compare that to the toll and then tell us what you think. For me, the ICC is worth it sometimes.

Yes, it will be normal commuting schedule. I currently live in Silver Spring, and the commute on the beltway is relatively painless because I am going against traffic.

I was also told by a friend that rides a motorcycle that she doesn't get charged when riding the ICC. Is that correct, or do the sensors/cameras just not see her?

Motorcycles should be charged at the same rate as cars. If she's not getting charged, either the electronic tolling is missing her (does she have her license plate flat?) or she just hasn't gotten their delayed bill yet. The bills are super delayed.

Yes they are. Which is why I forget to pay them on time half the time!

Commuting from Germantown down 270 to 495 to 95 is a completely different ballgame. It will not be painless.
