I got letter from SHA that SHA request some land from my home for MD210@Kerby Hill RD Interchange. I called them and they said they will rent my land. RENT??? It sounds strange. Does anyone know how to make deal with them? I expect they should buy my land, not rent!!!

They may use the land for storage of equipment during the construction. I could be wrong. Do they have a contact on the letter? You may want to start there. It would be a uphill battle to get them to budge though. There are a couple of houses along 210 near the Wilson Bridge Drive light that have been purchased and are going to be removed to make room for construction.

A friend in potomac overlook (townhomes) told me the initial plan for townhomes on the Disney land has been canceled and Peterson companies won't reveal what has taken its place. Any ideas? You think Disney sees the success and has done a 180?

Not a chance. That train already left the station. Disney sold back that land to the Petersons. If Disney held a wait-and-see position, they would have at least held on to the land. Also, I'm not sure how much the impact MGM has on a family-oriented establishment being so close by. My guess is there will be multifamily units or offices.

Agree with Adelphi, Disney is no longer a thought in their master plan. I don't think it will be additional residential (multi-unit or otherwise) since they will be building 200 units next to Central Park and additional 375 units between buildings X and Y. Office space is moving really slow in this market so I don't see them holding out for that. My guess would be some type of retail, cultural, and/or recreational project.

Default National Children’s Museum to leave National Harbor

This doesn't come as a surprise. I know they were struggling to raise money for a larger facility. Hopefully that will change once they move. Based on the reviews, they will also need to change their model to appeal to a larger demographic........On the flip side, what would you like to see going in that space

After two years at National Harbor, the National Children’s Museum will close its doors and relocate to Washington, D.C., next year.

Rob Volmer, a spokesman for the National Children’s Museum, said the museum’s board of directors unanimously voted to leave National Harbor due to poor accessibility, expenses and limited opportunities for future growth.

“At National Harbor they have a small space at a high cost and we felt like the best option was to move back to the District at this juncture,” Volmer said.

What do they think they'll get in DC with the ever increasing property values? Unless they move to N.E. or S.E. DC? Unless DC gives them a place for free, any property within walking distance to a metro is going to come at a premium.

They may have a little competition though. The Cafritz family is building a children's museum in NE DC near the Ft. Totten Metro. They broke ground this summer.

The project will consist of 305,000 square feet of retail, 929 multifamily residential units, a 47,000 square foot children’s museum and 170,000 square feet of cultural and art spaces

They will definitely pay a premium...DC no longer needs to give free rides. I think their best bet would be SE or NE near east capital. I didn't know about the other children's museum. it will be interesting to see how that plays. With that type of competition they will definitely have to up their game.
