That wasn't the mall. That was the whole retail corridor along 410. That includes the mall, UTC, Metro Shoppes, the shopping center with the CVS and Starbucks, Home Depot, Giant, etc

It was to be named Hyattsville Crossing or HVX for short.

It's about time!!! I still think it should be a bit larger. Perhaps two levels. The Hyattsville and mall area is growing. I see a lot of new libraries around the region that are much larger than this one will be.

Quote:
Hyattsville’s new public library will hold an official groundbreaking at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at 6530 Adelphi Road in Hyattsville.

Located on the same lot as the old library, the new 40,000-square-foot building will be one story, with parking underneath, according to Heather Jackson, area manager for Hyattsville and other libraries in Prince George’s County.

The owner of MPG is bullish on the effects of Amazon in Crystal City for both of its malls, Springfield Town Center and MPG.

Quote:
Earlier this year, cities nationwide worked diligently to prepare proposals for Amazon’s second headquarters location in North America. The global e-commerce brand narrowed its list of finalists to twenty, and yesterday announced that it will split its HQ2 between two cities: Long Island City in NYC’s Queens borough and Northern Virginia’s Crystal City. The latter, a popular metro-DC area, is just miles from two high-performing PREIT malls – Springfield Town Center and Mall at Prince Georges (MPG) – priming the properties for future expansive growth.

I have seen some ppl say that PGC will get some benefit from Amazon bc it's easier to get there from Springfield than other parts of MD.

When you think about Metro's Blue/Yellow lines, it's a straight shot. Then there's the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. So, southern PG may get a shot in the arm, especially those near Metro stops.

Now if we could just extend Metro from Eisenhower Avenue or Huntington across the bridge to National Harbor or even all the way to Branch Avenue... (wishful thinking, but still...)

Purple line needs to extend to the National harbor meeting the blue line at largo and the green line at Branch ave, then encourage VA to finish the loop connecting to Huntington and so on

If only public transit can be rushed through and approved as fast as corporations get billions. We'd have a ring connecting all the spurs by now. With the cash MD was willing to cough up, we could have the Purple Line down to National Harbor. But noooooooo.

According to the MPG mall website, Miller's Ale House is supposedly opening this fall. I checked out a few of the reviews. It's okay. Family friendly sports bar. Nothing fancy. Along the lines of Outback and Olive Garden in terms of food quality and service.

It seems to be a Florida chain. There are tons in Florida. There's one in Rockville and Sterling. I've never been.
