I challenge anyone here to tell me where a middle class single person with no kids making around $60k will pay more in income tax than in Montgomery County, MD. You can't because there is no such place.

New York City is more (2.9% city, 6.45% state), v. 3.2% county, 4.75% state.

What an idiotic claim. Why do you keep making threads whining about taxes? You make $60K; if you think the taxes you pay are more than the services you receive then you're nuts. The rest of us carry your butt.

Buttlove, what a condescending and elitist reply. Please, enlighten me what services I would not be receiving if I moved across the river to VA or across the border to DC? As soon as my lease is up I'll be gone from the People's Republic and you won't have to read any more posts. One less "peasant" for you.

You just compared MoCo to NYC......even if NYC is higer the fact that the two are in the same sentence is telling.......VA all the way, not because its better....but because its cheaper..

True you can't compare NYC to moco. You would have to compare NYC to The district not the surrounding area.

OP asked where ANYWHERE a single person making 60K pays more taxes than MoCo. He did not ask for a comparison to suburban counties. No kidding Manhattan is not a direct comparison to MoCo.

BTW In California, once you make more than $49.7K, you are in a 9.3% tax bracket

It's not even close. MD (state and county) wins running away (for me at least). It helps that CA has no county income tax, has 9 tax brackets and does not lump people with income between $3k-$100k in the same bracket.
