Good to know. I'm planning to move out of Germantown and I've been considering Laurel. Perhaps I'll look elsewhere instead. Finding a low crime area is one of my highest priorities.

There is nothing wrong with Laurel. Laurel's good neighborhoods outweigh the bad. The area around Laurel Town Center is revitalizing and has seen improvement. Laurel has a majority LOW crime rate. The one area on Contee Road (Arden pointe) is considered the bad area.

Also Laurel spreads into 2 other counties which are safe and low crime as well.

People say Laurel and Bowie are bad due to the PG County label it comes with it.. Its the complete opposite.

I won't hold my breath on a retraction.

Burglary and theft are the main issues. Murder and homicide not so much.

The whole city isn't bad as there are some good areas. Approach with caution...
