My husband recently accepted a job at APG and I am a stay at home mom of two.

Our kids are not yet school aged but we are looking for some place to take root.

We are looking for good schools (kindergarten through high school) family oriented neighborhoods, reasonable commute to APG and close to grocery/retail shopping for me

My husband is set with a TV but I love to run/bike outside and cook Asian food, so preferably somewhere that has walking/biking trails and an Asian market.

Any good cities or even specific neighborhoods would be much appreciated!

If it matters at all, we currently live in Bethesda, MD.

Assuming you mean Aberdeen Proving Grounds by APG, you would be best to post your question in the Baltimore sub-forum. APG is north-east of Baltimore.

I track the Baltimore suburbs, and many people recommend Bel Air and Perry Hall. Since that area is not as diverse as Bethesda, Asian markets are not as common. However, there is the Towson Asian Market in Parkville, MD.

Check out the Gunpowder Falls State Park for hiking and biking opportunities.

Thanks for the input. We have read about Bel Air but still need to take a look at Perry Hall.

Love to live in Towson, MD but the commute wouldn't be ideal for hubby.

Just an update. We have been house hunting for almost 5 months and looked everywhere East of Baltimore and before the susquehanna river. Hubby has been renting a room in Abington while the kids and I stayed in Bethesda.

We made offers on 3 houses, first one in Parkton but it was a multiple offer situation and we got out bided. Second one in Havre de Grace's Bull Rock community and then rescinded the offer because Havre de Grace elementary is a Title 1 school. Third is a short sale in Forest Hill but am reconsidering because there was a class action law suit against the builder for a material used that caused elevated lead levels in the water.

Bel Air is lovely but too expensive. Perry Hall is too far from APG. Jarrettville is too rural. Love Havre de Grace but not the schools. We found that Forest Hill is close enough to all the conveniences of Bel Air without Bel Air prices. Fallston is nice too but a tad bit further from Bel Air and APG.

So it looks like Forest Hill is it! Now, as a stay at home mom, I need to figure out how to find play dates for my young toddlers and the best way to establish a social life in a new city (Baltimore suburbs). Any suggestions will help
