The link below is to a post of mine concerning apparent discrepancies in the claimed economic benefits of the Largo Hospital, and the proposed new Washington Adventist Hospital in White Oak by the same journalist in the same newspaper. After you've read that, read the OP and then read the latest from the Planning Board quoted below.

The Prince George's County Primary Healthcare Strategic Plan is scheduled to go before the Prince George's County Planning Board on Thursday, June 18, 2015, on the Preliminary Plan of Subdivision (4-15009) and Detailed Site Plan (DSP-14028). However, we have been advised that on June 18, the consultant team may request a one week extension. If that extension request is approved, the cases will go before the Planning Board on June 25, 2015 on the regularly scheduled agenda which begins at 10:00 a.m.

What strikes me as particularly odd about this latest notice is that we have to wait until June 18, to find out if the consultant team needs another week. We're expected to believe that they won't actually know if they need an extension until they show up at the meeting. Why can't they simply ask for an extension in advance, instead of putting anyone who might want to attend, at the added inconvenience and expense of maybe having to show up twice to see/hear one presentation. Rescheduling is a common occurrence.

I'll be interested to see exactly what factors the planning board considers in deciding whether or not to grant an extension, if one is requested. And if no extension is requested, then I'd want to know why this notice of a possible request for extension was sent out in the first place.

Funny biz?
