Okay, so we've done some research and on paper these three schools seem to meet our needs and the area seems to meet our budget ($625,000). Would love to hear others comparisons between these schools and if they really are as good as the statistics seem to show?

I can only tell you that a friend had kids at Magruder High School, and they loved it.

Otherwise, you should consider the locations. Sherwood is quite far out in Sandy Spring. Rockville HS is more convenient for closer-in jobs.

Another factor is the student. The Greatschool reviews on Rockville HS mentioned small size and a tight-knit feel, even though it also has an IB program. Would your student do well in that invironment, or would he be happier in a larger school? Would he want a specialized program?

All three of those schools have very good reputations. I think Rockville High School has the best reputation among those three schools, then Sherwood, then Magruder. Whichever school you choose is up to personal preference, honestly. Sherwood is really cool because the students can choose from many different "academies" the students can choose from such as Business and Hospitality, Engineering, Science, etc. Rockville High School has a really good Journalism Academy though. It also has an IB program. Magruder has a JROTC program if that interests you or your kids. Another really good MoCo high school district you could check out that fits your price range is the Walter Johnson High School cluster (Bethesda/Rockville area).

All 3 of those schools are fine, I wouldn't worry about that. Montgomery County doesn't really have any sketchy high schools (except Wheaton and sorta Einstein).
